This study stems from the idea that the relationship between mass media and its large audiences depends on language becausc it is the most idéal and effective means of influencing recepieuts . the tremendous technological development lias doubled the degree of effectivencss and idealism of this means . Furthermore , it has provided the mass media with new tools beyond sound , picture , and animation, therefore, mass media has impressively dominated the receiver’s imagination who is always eager to gain more knowledge and be entertained at the samc time . Accordingly , there shouid be a kind of a media language in order to face this domination of technology . this language has to have the features and elements of the media work and meets ail the nccessary needs and conditions in the media like speed , limited room and time , isolation and selection principie, intensification , flexibility and supcrficiality . In the Arabie context , mass media has succeeded in creating a media language with modem features derived from the Standard Arabie language to become the most common and familiar language among both général public and the elite . Here , consequently , arises the importance of this study because mass media language has become the master language and our one and only source of language. This has , in fact , changed the relationship between Standard Arabie and modem media language . Despite the fact that the Arabie shouid adopt the media language , the latter has dominated Arabie .This has been shown in tnany aspects . The study aims at tackling sonie of thèse aspects . For example , the domination of the media language has led to changes in the educational behavior of a wide range of receivers , for the final the reading material is more difficult than audio - visual material .This has led in return , to minimizing the importance and the rôle of the language as it is in the media language . Moreover, colloquial language has dominated modem media discourse through entertainment programmer or ads . Many new vocabulary were created to fit in and many other words disappeared in order to match the hasty news situations . Also , the media discourse has become a burden on the language fixed from ,i.e. changing figurative forms into real ones because of too much usage, and also changing some multi - meaning words in to one - meaning words, history new dérivations , many usages of foreign words and expressions , new constant usages of the language model, and many common language mistakes have prevailed . The study aims at answering a number of questions including the reason behind forming a new language level derived from Standard Arabie . Is Standard Arabie unable to be represented by mass media ? What is the criterion for this new level, its conditions and needs ? Has the media language succeeded in circulating this language level and making it powerful and institutional ? Has the mass media language dominated the mother tongue ? What are the internai transformations that were caused by the media language in distorting the pure and perfect Arabie? Is it just a matter of a group of common language mistakes or did it go as far as to connotation , metaphor , and rhetoric ? Did it go far enough to reach the relationship between the way of thinking and language ? What is the future of Standard Arabie ? Where is the colloquial jargon ? Is Standard Arabie now less powerful than the new media language which allicd with the colloquial ? Is there a relationship between the worldwide technological révolution and the new media language ? What is the identity rôle ? What were its desired tasks and how much responsible are we toward ail this ? Is it an adoption or domination after ail ?
