المستخلص: This study aims to identify the effectiveness of using concept mapping in developing geometric thinking for second-year preparatory students with different mental capacities through studying the unit of Area and the effect of the interaction between concept maps and the mental capacity of second-year preparatory students in developing geometric thinking. To achieve this, the unite of Area was prepared according to concept mapping and two assessement instruments were used:\tFigural Intersectin Test to assess mental capacity of students and a geometric thinking test to assess geometric thinking of students. In addition, a sample of 120 students was chosen and divided into two groups:a.\tthe control group who studies the unit of Area by using the traditional strategy.b.\tThe experimental group who studies the unit of Area by using the concept mapping strategy.Results showed that:1.\tThere are statistically significant differences (at a 0.01 level of significance) between the means of scores of the experimental group and the control group in the geometric thinking post-test in favor of the students of the experimental group.2.\tThere are statistically significant differences (at a 0.01 level of significance) between the mean of scores of the experimental group students with different mental capacities in the geometric thinking post-test in favor of students with high mental capacity.3.\tThere is a statistically significant interaction (at a 0.01 level of significance) between student's mental capacity level and the concept mapping strategy in the geometric thinking post-test.
