The journey of Ahmad Bin Qasim Al-Hajari known as "Afoqay: Yearning To Meet the Beloved Ones 1611-1613", is within the context of the largest ethnic cleansing against Andalusians Moriscos that Europe had witnesses in the late centuries. Those were the Indonesian Muslims who settled in the Iberian Island after the fall of Granada in 1492 and were forced to convert to Christianity after they were abused by the Spanish Inspecting Courts. They were deprived of their native language (Arabic), their traditional costumes and even their own names. The mosques where they used to pray became churches and their books were burnt. This abusive treatment did not stop until they were exiled by the Spanish government to North Africa in 1609. The banishing of the Moriscos in such a manner one century after the fall of the Islamic Regime in Andalusia, the unprecedented and violent resistance of their identity which was replaced by another one, paved the way for a double-standard culture and a serious conflict. The journey of "Afoqay" to Andalusia and Europe seeks to end this conflict through another form or policy of exclusion. Though it was a dangerous one which paralleled that stage of compulsory casting, this journey was a response to an official assignment by Sultan Zeidan, the ruler of Morocco (1628) who assigned Afoqay as his ambassador to some of the kings of Europe asking them to give those Moriscos their legitimate rights which were usurped by the owners of the ships that sailed them to the African coasts. However, Afoqay who was the best for the job knowledge and language wise used the post as a means of expressing his deeply rooted Islamic and Arabian identity and culture against a foreign identity that was forced upon him and his people for a whole century before his escape from Andalusia. This journey was an attempt on Afoqay's part to declare his Islamic and Arabian identity and expose the exclusion of the other in order to confirm its falseness in comparison to an attempt to achieve linguistic and cultural hybridity with the cultures of Moroccan courtiers and Egypt in an attempt to highlight their distinguished qualities and their excellence. The discourse of this journey reflects many cultural scenes and their richness which opens new horizon for many possibilities such as an Arabian geographic vision of the far seas Islamic regions and a chance for the educated Arab to announce himself as capable of interacting with the Other and even excluding him as a compensation and a rejection of the notion of the imitation of the Self by the Other. For these reasons, this study traces the discourse of this journey that lies between two different national cultures which converted it into a self-conflicting cultural text and, on the other hand, a text that conflicts with the Other. How did the author of the target text highlight the features of the other in this journey? How did the author manage to balance between the new Self which he headed to and the old Other that he was able to get rid of? Did the author allow? Multiplicity of voices in his narration? What are the most obvious narrative and linguistic techniques he used while the Self had abused the native language of the other? How did the author portray himself in the land of the other after he returned to it as a messenger? Why did he overcrowd his text with religious and argumentative issues related to the three main religions while, at the same time, he quoted many allusions from the Holy Books and authors of his time? To what extent have all these issues contributed to establishing the Self and excluding the Other from a criti cal historical period that witnessed many wars which were followed by peace?
