The study aimed at revealing the effect of the use of the strategy of "think-Pair-Share" (TPS) on the development of achievement and academic self-efficacy in the science among the second intermediate grade students. The experimental approach was used. The study sample consisted of all students of the second intermediate grade in the intermediate government schools affiliated to the Ministry of Education in the city of Mecca, which numbered 104 students. The tools of the study were represented in the achievement test and the measure of academic self.
The results of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences at the level of (0.01) between the average scores of the experimental and control groups in favor of the experimental group students in the achievement test. The results also showed that there were statistically significant differences at (0.01) between the average scores of the experimental and control groups in favor of the experimental group students in the academic self-efficacy. Moreover, the results indicated the ability of this strategy to attract students' attention and stimulate their thinking, and to work on the interaction between the previous experiences possessed by the student with the new situations that are exposed through the three steps of the strategy of special co-operation and participation.
In light of the results of the study, the study recommended the use of the strategy of "think-Pair-Share" in science because of its positive impact in the development of achievement and academic self-efficacy, the interest in holding training courses for science teachers in-service to familiarize them with strategic steps (think-Pair-Share) and how to implement them in daily lessons to raise the level of competence in the preparation of activities. It also recommended the need to employ developed science curricula and focus on the development of modern teaching methods and innovative work on self-development academic among intermediate school students..This abstract translated by Dar AlMandumah Inc. 2018
