المستخلص: This article critically investigates how Islamophobia and American mainstream news media’s biased report¬ing on Chapel Hill shooting correlated and particularly led a two-stage anti-Muslim reporting, labeled in this article as ‘double-Islamophobia.’ The ‘Double Islamophobia’ is a result of mainstream news media’s incessant endeavor to discursively rame the anti-Muslim Chapel Hill crime into a ‘run-of-the- ill incident a crime that is not hate driven. It is this veiling process regarding the stark Islamophobia that has brought the double Islamophobia to the fore. The methodology adopted in this study consists of content analysis, which both provides and analyzes the numerical and qualitative data. The study has resulted in American mainstream news media, particularly CNN and Fox News, engaging in a twofold instance of Islamophobia; the victims were both underrepresented before the coverage, hence given very little visibility in the public sphere, and misrepresented during the coverage, featuring in a news forced into the frame of no-Islamophobia.
