المستخلص: Landsat images-based GIS and remote sensing techniques have been used to assess Land Use and Land Cover changes in the Kalar area, for over two decades (2001-2021). The study classified area into six categories; (urban, waterbody, vegetation, agriculture, barren, and gravelly land). The study showed the changes occurred in the urban and gravelly areas as a ratio of (15.44% and 12.1%) respectively, on account of the loss of agricultural land, barren land, as well as areas of vegetation that decreased and accounted for (-12.71, -9.78, and -5.79) in consecutive. The changes in the land use and land cover mainly took place due to human being activity involving urban expansion, quarrying action, farm destruction, and cutting down trees.
