المستخلص: The Romans were interested in depicting many rigid tools and symbols, which have a symbolic meaning and a symbolic purpose for each of them. The depiction of the simpulum came on some artworks dating back to the period from the fifth century BC until the third century AD; Therefore, the study aims to shed light on this tool by reviewing some of the depicted models in Roman art in order to know the significance of its depiction, and the most important emperors that dealt with it, while removing the curtain on some of the religious and worldly rituals in which it was used. The purpose of this study is to get acquainted with the simpulum in Roman art, by trying to trace its depiction in all arts, revealing its role in Roman rituals and beliefs, and the extent to which it is linked or associated with social or religious occasions, and revealing the styles and forms in which it was depicted in Roman arts. The study adopted the descriptive analytical approach, which contributes to tracing the simpulum and its role in Roman beliefs, by studying the development of its depiction in Roman art and the occasions associated with it. The study also answers many questions that come to mind related to what the simpulum is and the function it is manufactured for, and were there certain rituals or ceremonies in which the simpulum was used, and what is the nature of these rituals and ceremonies, and are there models of the simpulum, and what are the materials from which it was made? What are the arts on which the simpulum was depicted? And did it differ in shape and size? The study reached many results, the most important of which was the importance of the simpulum as a tool within the Roman priestly tools, the multiplicity of its manufacturing materials, and the multiplicity of Roman arts depicted on it. Funerary, and in religious rituals through the ritual of libations, as noted, the simpulum was associated with gods, emperors, animals, and other tools and symbols in Roman art.
