المستخلص: يهدف هذا البحث إلى بيان دور الشيخ محمود شلتوت في التفسير الموضوعي، بجانبيه المشهورين: السورة القرآنية والموضوع القرآني، وقد اتبعت فيه المنهج الوصفي والتحليلي، وقسمته إلى مبحثين في كل مبحث بيان لجهود الشيخ في التفسير الموضوعي للسورة والموضوع القرآني، ولم أتعرض للقضايا الفكرية أو منهج الشيخ فيها، بل كان البحث لبيان جهده وتقييم عمله، ووضعه في مكانه اللائق في الدراسات القرآنية الحديثة، حيث إنه من أوائل- إن لم يكن أول - من كتب في التفسير الموضوعي في العصر الحديث، وكان من نتائج هذا البحث أن الإمام الأكبر رحمه الله لم يهتم بالجانب التأصيلي للعلم، بل اهتم بارتياد الكتابة فيه، وكان نتاجه في ذلك متميزا يستحق الدراسة والتحليل، كما أوصيت بالاهتمام ببعض القضايا التي أثارها رحمه الله، وأوصيت بعمل دراسة مستقلة لبيان أول من ألف في الجانب التطبيقي في التفسير الموضوعي.

This research paper aims at tracing the role of Sheikh Mahmoud Shaltut (peace be upon him) in the objective interpretation of the Holy Qur'an regarding its well-known respects, the Qur'anic Sura (chapter) and the Qur'anic theme. The researcher has applied the descriptive and analytical approaches. Accordingly, this paper is divided into two research requests; the first research request displays the objective interpretation of the Sura whereas the other handles the Qur'anic theme. The research paper has not dealt with the implied intellectual issues or the approach of the late Sheikh of handling them. This research paper is dedicated solely to trace and evaluate the efforts of Sheikh Shaltut and his work, placing such work in its suitable place among the modern Qur'anic studies as Sheikh Shaltut is one of – if not the first- the early authors who touched the field of objective interpretation of the Holy Qur'an in the modern age. Hence, this paper has found out that the Grand Imam, May Allah have mercy on him, was not occupied with the originating aspect of the science of interpretation but he was keen on writing about the topic and his output was remarkable to the extent that it deserved study and analysis. Finally, this research paper has recommended giving more attention to the issues raised by Sheikh Mahmoud Shaltut (May Allah have mercy on him). In addition, the paper has recommended running out an independent study to discover who was the first to write in accordance with the applied aspect of the objective interpretation of the Holy Qur'an.
