Morocco has gone from an officially monolingual state in favor of Arabic to an officially bilingual Arab-Amazigh state. This new linguistic situation in the country is the result of demands initiated upon independence by the associative movement and followed by important reforms initiated as part of the democratization process. Recognition of the linguistic and cultural diversity of the country is one of the dimensions of this process of which Amazigh, the subject of our study, occupies a central place. Various institutions were founded for better promotion of Amazigh in Morocco and which were required as part of the constitutionalization, with the basic principle of the co-officiality of two languages, namely Arabic and Amazigh. Also, multiple legal texts have been adopted for better integration of Amazigh in space as well as in public life.
Le Maroc est passé, d’un Etat officiellement monolingue au profit de l’arabe à un Etat officiellement bilingue « arabe-amazighe ». Cette nouvelle situation linguistique du pays est le fruit de revendications initiées dès l’indépendance par le mouvement associatif et suivie d’importantes réformes entamées dans le cadre du processus de démocratisation. La reconnaissance de la diversité linguistique et culturelle du pays est l’une des dimensions de ce processus dont l’amazighe, objet de notre étude, occupe une place centrale. Diverses institutions ont été fondées pour une meilleure promotion de l’amazighe au Maroc et qui ont été exigées dans le cadre de la constitutionnalisation, avec comme principe de base la co officialité de deux langues à savoir l’arabe et l’amazigh. Aussi, de multiples textes juridiques ont été adoptés pour une meilleure intégration de l’amazigh dans l’espace aussi bien que dans la vie publique.
