Darfur civil war is continuously attracting the curiosity of the worldwide community and media which aim at understanding the roots and causes of the war, including its humanitarian impacts since 2003. Three royal dynasties of the Daju, Tunjur and Fur ruled Darfur from the earliest time to 1916, when the region was annexed to the Sudan during the Condominium administration. The problem is that there is obscurity and confusion about the origins of these dynasties generally, and the Daju dynasty particularly. This is because Darfur history has no written records and depends mainly on oral traditions. These kingdoms were established on and around Jebel Marrah massif, which may cause confusion in the case of archaeological excavations. The historical method is implemented in this study in order to shed light on the origins of the Daju royal dynasty.
