المستخلص: Functional performance for any type of fabric depends on its physical and mechanical properties that suit this performance. These properties change according to changes happen in the factors of fabric's construction. Tensile strength and elongation of fabric plays a main role in deciding how far is the fabric suitable for the kind of functional performance required. Tensile strength and elongation of fabric is considered as a sign for fabric's resistance levels against hard work. Changes of construction, which are the weaving structure and number's intensity of the warp and weft yams in the measuring unit, play a main role in controlling the tensile strength and elongation levels. Weaving structure is considered as one of the most two important factors that specify fabrics' tenacity parallel with the tensile strength of yam itself before weaving. Thus, the research pays a great attention to introduce analytic comparative study of the tensile strength and elongation in both directions warp and weft between the hollowed polyester yams and fabrics woven from it with weaving structure that has several intensities in weft in the measuring unit by producing some samples of hollow polyester fiber, because of its unique properties like lightness, thinness and its ability of getting rid of wetness. It's a kind of artificial smart fibers, which is distinguished by fast reaction and interaction with the nature of usage. It changes its form and nature according to different changes. These samples were made from four simple different weaving structures, that are: plain 1/1, twill 2/1, twill 2/2 and twill 3/1. Each structure of the mentioned weaving structures was made in four different amount's intensities for the weft, which are 16, 18, 20 and 22 picks per centimeter. Comparison was held between tensile strength of yams and its elongation and tensile strength and elongation of fabrics weaved from it. Results of tests were scheduled and discussed their relations and data were drawn as well.
