المستخلص: The Zionist press started to appear in the settlements in Palestine by the second half of the 19th century, i.e. in March 1863. The issuance of Halbanon newspaper was tantamount to the beginning of that era. Some factors contributed to the appearance and development of Zionist press in Palestine such as printing, disputes among the religious Jewish sects in Jerusalem, arrival of a number of experienced journalists who worked for European press and the Zionist exodus into Palestine early the 20th century until 1948. Following the British Mandate in 1917, the number of newspapers issued increased. These newspapers were issued under the supervision of the Ottoman authorities and the British Mandate that enacted the press rules. Sometimes these newspapers were banned, while some others they were allowed. Such rules contributed to the spread and development of newspapers. The trends and contents of the Zionist newspapers in Palestine varied in terms of tendency, interest and specialty. Most of the newspapers tended to tackle religious topics in the beginning. Following establishment of the Zionist parties, the party affiliated, labor, communist, and Zionist press that constituted the right-wing appeared. The leadership of such parties played an important role in establishment and development of newspapers. They also helped spreading these newspapers within the settlements in Palestine. The Zionist press in Palestine had a kind of specialty in terms of the topics they discuss such as military, literary, medical, and economic topics. Also, some newspapers were directed to specific segments such as women or children. Some basic daily newspapers used to have a supplement for children such as Haaretz, Davar, and Haboker. This press deemed a basic factor in the political events in Palestine, and it supported the idea of a Zionist settlement project in Palestine.
