For a modern working grid the need for a source of reactive power is widely used. The control of reactive power (Q) on any working grid is in constant demand. The control of reactive power should achieve many advantages on the grid the need of reducing the amount of the flow of reactive power will result in a great reduction of grid losses. This will add also better gaining in voltage regulation combined with voltage stability which is of a high priority. The conventional methods of controlling the reactive power are: 1- By using a capacitor(C). 2- By using passive filter. 3- By synchronous motor when running at no load and over excitation. In order to examine all the above methods, a grid is constructed by using ETAP program where real loads and sources are connected and parameters for a smooth and accurate analysis and the investigation with full results will be provided. |
