المستخلص: في ضوء الكثير من الجهود الإصلاحية من قبل عديد من دول العالم لإصلاح عملية التعليم والتعلم، وتوثيق الروابط بين مجالات العلوم المتعددة، وتمكين المتعلم من استيعاب المستجدات العالمية بروح تتسم بالانفتاح الواعي المستند إلى قاعدة صلبة من القيم المجتمعية والخلقية، وإعداد مناهج دراسية فاعلية تركز في أهدافها ومحتواها وأساليبها على تعليم الطلاب قدرا معينا من المعرفة العلمية الوظيفية لتكون بداية لتعلم مثمر، كما تسهم في بناء الهوية الثقافية وتنميتها وتعزيز الانتماء الوطني وإكساب المتعلم الكفايات التي تمكنه من الإسهام في تنمية مجتمعه وتمكينه من المنافسة عالميا، تناقش الورقة البحثية الحالية المقصود بمفهوم التنمية المستدامة، باعتباره من المفاهيم الشائعة في العالم، والتي لها دور كبير في إعادة تشكيل المعرفة ونوعية الحياة، فمستقبل العالم أصبح مرتبطا بالتنمية الدائمة والمتجددة التي تلبي احتياجات الحاضر دون تفريط بمتطلبات المستقبل، وكذلك أبعاد التنمية المستدامة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والعلمية والثقافية والتكنولوجية والمبادئ التي تستند عليها، والجهود المبذولة لتحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة في مناهج التعليم العام، ومعوقات تنفيذ التنمية المستدامة في التعليم العام وكيفية مواجهتها.

In light of many reform efforts by many countries of the world to reform the teaching and learning process, and strengthen the links between the various fields of science, and enable the learner to absorb the global developments in a spirit characterized by conscious openness based on a solid base of societal and moral values, and the preparation of effective curricula focused on their goals Its content and methods to teach students a certain amount of functional scientific knowledge to be the beginning of effective learning. It also contributes to building and developing cultural identity, enhancing national belonging, and providing the learner with competencies that enable him to contribute to the development of his society and enable him to compete globally. The current research paper discusses the meaning of the concept of sustainable development, as it is a common concept in the world, which has a major role in reshaping knowledge and quality of life, because the future of the world has become linked to permanent and renewable development that meets the needs of the present without neglecting the requirements of the future, as well as the dimensions of sustainable economic and social development Scientific, cultural, technological and the principles upon which they are based, the efforts made to achieve the goals of sustainable development in the curricula of general education, the obstacles to implementing sustainable development in public education and how to confront them.
