المستخلص: يعالج هذا المقال مفهوم الإصلاح الديني في التجربة المسيحية، انطلق من البيئة الغربية، حمل عدة معاني، دعت إلى ضرورة تقييم هذا المفهوم وتأصيله، وتتبع دلاته اللغوية والاصطلاحية، التي وضعته في إطار عملية تغيير وتعديل نظام الدين وتقويمه، وهو معنى ضيق للمفهوم، إلا أنه سيتسع ويكتمل بالانتقال من الدلالة اللغوية إلى الدلالة التاريخية التي ساهمت بشكل كبير في تحويله من إصلاح جزئي إلى إصلاحي كلي وجذري مع ظهور الحركة الدينية البروتستانتية، التي انتقدت سلطة الكنيسة، لما بدا منها من اهتزاز أساسها الروحي والأخلاقي، وغوصها في الأمور السياسية والمطامع الدنيوية، حتى فقدت كل ما يقترن بنظام العقائد الدينية وسلامتها، فالفكر المسيحي استند في إصلاحه لهذه الحركة بالذات التي دعت للرجوع إلى العقائد الأصلية والعودة إلى المسيحية الأولى، فالمسار التاريخي بين تطورات المفهوم.

This article deals with the concept of religious reformation in the Christian experience, as it has emerged from the Western religious environment to carry several meanings, which has called for the need to evaluate and root this concept, and to follow its linguistic and terminological connotations that have placed it within the process of change and modification of the religious system and its correction, which is a narrow sense of the concept. Its meaning will only be complete by moving from the linguistic connotation to the historical connotation that helped transform it from a partial to a total and radical reform with the emergence of the religious movement stemming from Protestant doctrine opposing the authority of the Church and reproaching it for what appeared to be the undermining of its spiritual and moral foundations, and its immersion in the affairs and political ambitions of worldliness, until it lost everything associated with the system of religious beliefs and their integrity. Reformation on the same movement that called for a return to original beliefs and a return to primitive Christianity. The historical progression between developments of the concept took on a realistic meaning.
