وصف العنصر: Basrah was considered as one of the Islamic caliphate cities scientifically during the Omait Age . Although it was established as a military base , it appeared through research that the spreed of sciences since early years , those sciences were simply taught . But the people of Basrah showed greek interest in the sciences of the Holy Koran and its Readings , because people at that time were interested in . their Religion affairs . During the Omait Age , there appeared some princes and rulers who encouraged science and Know ledge ; such as Ziyad bin Abeeh ( 75-95 A. H.) ( 665- 672) and Hajaj bin Yousof EL-Thakafi ( 75-95 A. H. ) ( 694-713) .And that led to the progress of the scientific movement and its spreeding out It was clear that teaching sciences was not official at that time ; where scientists were teaching people without fees . Meanwhile people were eager to get most teachings about their religion . they even used to go to scientists houses to receive as much as they could of the sciences and Knowledge . Basrah scientists used to hold their meetings at certain places such as mosques , their own houses or scientific councils . Through Researches it appeared also that Basrah scientists were the first followers of the prophet and those who were in real contact . with the Prophets companions ( Sahabas ) ( may God bless them ) from whom they received science . Although the Omait Age was described as the age of wars and conflicts , mainly political ; the omait people never neglected other sides , especially science . that is why Basrah was regarded the most famous Islamic city in science ; moreover some sciences were associated with its name , such as the science of structures ( AL-Nahoo ) and the science of speech ( AL-Kalam) . not only religious and Arabic science became well-known in Basrah , but also others such as : Medicine and Pharmacology . It became obvious to me that Basrah had graduated remarkable scientists some of whom were considered as encyclopedic in religious and Arabic sciences such as Abu Al-Aswad Aduali Dhalim bin Amr ( bornin 69 A. H. /688) and Abu AL-Aliya Refee bin Mahran ALRayahee ( bornin 95 A. H./708) and Abu al_Eman AL-Hassan bin Yassar AL-Basri ( born in 10 A. H./ 728) and Mohammed bin seereen (born in 110 A. H. / 735). Those scientists and their coleagues at that age led the science movement in Basrah until it became the most important Islamic centres to which intelligent students came from the Islamic Empire. We ask our Creator Allah the Greates to our hands to the best ways of knowedge. Finally we praise and thank our God Allah, the God of Worlds.
