The SMS Messaging System is a user centred application which is developed to enhance the communication process between the university and its students. The proposed system will be central system sitting on the servers of university and tutors can have access to the system through the login details, once logged on into the system the tutor can send the customised message to the number of students at the same time. This will be proved as increasing the communication between the university and students, as sometimes there is an urgent notice from teacher or university that needs to be communicated and if that is being sent through email, letters there is no guarantee that students will read the message in short amount of time, although SMS messages are very instant and they reach directly into the student’s mobile, if there is no lecture tomorrow for some reason that message can be sent through SMS system and thus saves a lot of time and other resources. The author has attempted to develop a simple prototype of user centred SMS messaging system which supports two types of users as Administrators who can manage the tutor accounts, Teachers who can manage the students’ accounts and send the messages to students. The application has been designed, developed and then fully tested by the author. This report is highlighting how the system has been designed first and then developed and tested, the report is also highlighting the more functionalities that can be added and has not been added due to limited time and resources. The system has been developed by using the various latest technologies that has been a challenge for the author as author has to first learn those technologies and then apply those in developing the SMS Messaging system. The technologies used are .NET framework, ASP.NET, C#, JavaScript, CSS, HTML and My SQL as a backend database server.
