استهدف المقال توضيح كلمة لرئيس تحرير عن بيان المدينة المنورة ومستقبل دراسات المكتبات والمعلومات وما قدمه من توصيات. مشيرا إلى أن الاتحاد العربي للمكتبات والمعلومات في ختام مؤتمره الرابع والعشرون. والذي عقد بعنوان "مهنة ودراسات المكتبات والمعلومات: الواقع والتوجهات المستقبلية" حيث أصدر بيانا رسم من خلاله واقع وطبيعة وهوية ومستقبل دراسات المكتبات والمعلومات.
وأوضح أن هذا البيان يشكل حجر زاوية في الرؤية العربية الموحدة لطبيعة التخصص ومكانته ومستقبله وتبعيته بعدما تطورت وتشعبت دراسات المعلومات. وأشار المقال إلى أهمية التخصص فإدارة المحتوى وتناوله من كافة الجوانب هو ما يميزه عن غيره من التخصصات كالحاسبات والتقنية البحتة. وان طبيعة التخصص المتداخلة تجعله يطوع نظريات وممارسات كثيرة في مختلف العلوم.
وأظهر المقال عدد من التوصيات لرئيس التحرير ومنها. أن العالم بحاجة دائمة لأخصائي المعلومات وأخصائي المكتبات وأخصائي المعرفة أو أخصائي المحتوى بشكل عام. الذي يعي متطلبات العصر المتطورة ويتفاعل مع احتياجات فئات المجتمع المتنوعة. وأن هناك حاجة إلى أقسام دراسات المكتبات والمعلومات والمعرفة. وان يكون لكل قسم أكاديمي رؤية واضحة حول طبيعة مخرجاته. وأن تتخصص الأقسام في اتجاهات متنوعة يكون بينها تكامل وليس تكرار لتلبي الاحتياجات. وضرورة توجيه الدراسات والباحثين للإبداع وطرح المشاريع ذات الطبيعة الجديدة التي تتلمس أفكارا تطويرية وتطبيقات حديثة. كُتب هذا المستخلص من قِبل دار المنظومة 2018



The article aimed to clarify the speech of Editor-in-Chief about Medina's statement and the future of library and information studies and recommendations that were provided, pointing out that the Arab Union of Libraries and Information at the end of its twenty-fourth conference, which was held under the title of "the profession and library and information studies: the reality and future directions", where issued a statement that clarified the reality, nature, identity and future of libraries and information studies.
It explained that this statement constitutes a cornerstone in the unified Arab vision because of the nature of the specialization, its position, future and affiliation after the information studies have been developed and diverged. The article indicated the importance of specialization, the management of content and addressing it from all aspects is what distinguishes it from other disciplines such as computers and pure technical , the nature of interdisciplinary specialization makes it volunteers theories and practices in many different sciences.
The article made a set of recommendations to the Editor-in-Chief such as that the world permanent needs to an information specialist, a librarian, a knowledge specialist or a content specialist in general, which is aware of the requirements of the evolving age and interacts with the needs of diverse social groups. Furthermore, there is a need for sections of library, information and knowledge studies, and each academic department should have a clear vision about the nature of its outputs. The departments should specialize in a variety of directions, involving integration, not duplication, in order to meet the needs. It discussed the need for directing studies and researchers to innovation and put forward projects with a new nature that is seeking to establish developmental ideas and modern applications.This abstract translated by Dar AlMandumah Inc. 2018
