يهدف البحث الى التعرف على الدور الذي تلعبه معارض الكتب في تنمية المجموعات المكتبية في المكتبات المركزية للجامعات العراقية ، كذلك التعرف على أنواع المعارض وأهدافها وأهميتها والفترات الزمنية المحددة لها . وتم استخدام المنهج الوثائقي في إتمام الجانب النظري ، واستخدام المنهج الوصفي (دراسة حالة )في اتمام الجانب العملي من البحث , وجمعت البيانات بواسطة مجموعة من الاسئلة وتم توجيهها الى الامين العام للمكتبة المركزية لجامعة بابل والتي تتعلق اهم محاورها في عدد المعارض التي تقيمها المكتبة المركزية للجامعة وأنواعها والفترات المحددة لإقامتها ودور هذه المعارض في تنمية المجموعات المكتبية للمدة (2007-2013), و حجم المخصصات المالية والميزانية المخصصة . وقد توصل البحث الى استنتاجات منها , ضعف في الميزانية المخصصة لشراء الكتب ، الاشتراك المجاني لدور النشر في المعارض, وقد أوصى البحث ببعض التوصيات منها, زيادة حجم الميزانية المخصصة لشراء المصادر من المعارض , ضرورة ان يكون الاشتراك في المعارض مقابل فائدة مادية او اهداء بعض المواد المنشورة .
The research aims to identify the role played by the book fairs in the development of library collections in the libraries of the central Iraqi universities, as well as to identify the types of exhibitions and its goals and its importance and the time periods specified. It was the use of the curriculum documentary in the completion of the theoretical side, and use the descriptive approach (case study) in the completion of the practical side of the research, and data was collected by a set of questions were directed to the Secretary General of the Central Library of the University of Babylon, which relates to the most important hubs in the number of exhibitions held by the Central Library the University of kinds and periods specified for her stay and the role of these exhibitions in the development of library collections for the period (2007-2013), and the size of the financial allocations and budget. The research has come to conclusions which, weakness in the budget allocated for the purchase of books, free subscription to the publishing houses in exhibitions, Research has recommended some of the recommendations, including, increasing the size of the budget allocated for the purchase of the sources of the opposition, need to be participating in exhibitions against the material benefit or Dedicate some of the material published.
