المستخلص: Knowledge management plays a vital role in transforming business processes, which is a precursor for innovation. One of the most important ways for an organisation to manage knowledge is through a community of practice (CoPs). Also, because of increasing competition, knowledge management and innovation are necessary and vital for sustaining organisational growth and competitiveness. Presenting the relationship between the capabilities of CoPs and service innovation is the main focus of this study. Understanding CoPs and their capabilities plays a key role in supporting innovative service. A quantitative method was chosen because this study presents a link between CoPs capabilities and the four dimensions of service innovation. The study hypotheses are designed to explore the link between CoPs capabilities, which include the incubation of critical thinking, the recruitment and retention of talent, the development of professional skills and the transfer of best practices, and the service innovation dimensions, which include new service concepts, a new service delivery system, a new client interface and increased options for technological processes. The analysis of the data collected from bank employees in Saudi Arabia shows strong support for the study hypotheses. Success in an organisation can be supported by implementing CoPs as a central method for developing innovative service.
