المستخلص: يحاول هذا البحث استجلاء حقيقة موقف ابن تيمية النقدي من مخالفيه في في ظل الرؤى السلبية لوجهته الفكرية الرائجة عند الكثيرين. ولذلك يهدف هذا الجهد إلى بيان بعض ملامح منهجه الوسطي في التعامل مع الآخر المخالف، والذي من أسسه الالتزام بمبدأ "المفاضلة الفكرية". ويقوم هذا المبدأ على معرفة شاملة لدقائق المسائل الخلافية وما نجم حولها من آراء متباينة، بعيدا عن نزعه الشخصنة في تناول تلك المسائل، وعند إصدار الأحكام بشأنها. ولذلك يرصد المقال المعايير التي يستند إليها منطق المفاضلة في فكر ابن تيمية اتجاه المدرسة الأشعرية، وذلك بقصد لفت أنظار أتباع السلفية والأشعرية على حد سواء إلى حقيقية منهج الموازنات الفكرية الذي رسمه ابن تيمية واتبعه في أعماله العلمية المتعددة في نقد الآخر دون مجاوزة حدود الموضوعية. وفي هذا السياق يلقي هذا البحث الضوء على المعنى الدلالي لمصطلح "المفاضلة الفكرية"، مع بيان أسسه وخصائصه المعرفية، ثم الكشف عن قيمته المنهجية في التعامل مع عالم الأفكار والقيم. وقد تم ذلك من خلال عملية تحليل لنماذج تطبيقية من جداليات ابن تيمية الفكرية مع الأشاعرة في في كتابه "درء تعارض العقل والنقل".

This study attempts to clarify the truth about Ibn Taymiyya’s critical attitude toward those differing with him in opinion under the shadow of negative perceptions of his intellectual orientation that prevail among many people. Thus this effort is meant to shed light some aspect of his balanced approach in dealing with the different other, an approach having as one of its pillars the principle of intellectual preference. This principle consists of comprehensive knowledge of the details pertaining to the disputed issues as well as of the different views thereon, shunning all inclinations to personalization in treating such issues and evaluating them. To demonstrate this, the article highlights the criteria underpinning the logic of preference in Ibn Taymiyya’s thought concerning the Ash'arite school, with the main purpose of drawing the attention of the followers of both the Salafiyyah movement and Ash'arism to the truth of balanced methodology of intellectual preference which Ibn Taymiyya established and followed in his different works when criticizing others without transgressing the bounds of objectivity. In this context, the article sheds light on the semantic meaning of the concept of intellectual preference and brings to the fore its epistemic foundation and features, so as to show its methodological importance in dealing with the realm of ideas and values. All this task has been undertaken by analyzing practical cases of Ibn Taymiyya’s engagement with the Ash'arites in his book Dar’ Taarud al-Aql wa al-Naql (Refutation of the conflict between Reason and Revelation).
