The research aims to present a proposed conception for the development of the scientific departments in the Saudi universities. It uses the descriptive approach in order to clarify the importance of scientific departments, the main role of department heads, the objective of the development of scientific sections, the conditions of the development of scientific departments in universities, the qualification of the heads of scientific departments, the administrative coordination between scientific departments, the encouragement of scientific research; in addition to, applying the most important criteria of academic accreditation and the strength of the quality of the study plans and the scientific content of the curriculum.
The research affirms the necessity of keeping pace with the rapid developments that occur in various scientific fields based on Jouf University's vision of achieving excellence between Saudi and regional universities and its clear mission in preparing a human who has scientific knowledge, skills, values and who has the ability to continuously learn and employ information technology. In addition, it is important to keep pace with academic affairs to provide educational service to university students and faculty members, raising the efficiency and quality of university education, developing the academic programs and academic plans in the academic departments and the academic development of university faculty members through the adoption of quality culture and the employment of information technology, achieving academic excellence in order to meet the needs of the community in providing distinct and creative competencies in various sciences, as well as, in the fields of teaching, scientific research and community service.This abstract translated by Dar AlMandumah Inc. 2018
