The design of the old Al-Jeddawi house, with its dormers, skillfully compact excavated stones, and distinct engravings and arches, suggests that you are in front of an integrated painting. Historians have described Jeddah and its sea, mountains, and rocks whose heads are almost sticking out from under the depths of the sea with many descriptions of the nature that is specific to the Red Sea region. The sea in Jeddah has relatively high salinity. This salinity helped, after the grace of Allah, and then, with the passage of millions of years, to form the cut stone, in addition to calcium carbonate and the micro-animals that live around the reefs. When they die, they leave structures consisting of coral reefs in abundance in the Red Sea. These coral reefs may rise above sea level, sometimes higher than coral reef islands. This growth is formed over the years, and the factors of erosion and lime deposits that it passes through and the influence of the time factor and weather factors, so these reefs die and become like white rocks and are called (cut stone). These stones are cut from beaches and shallow waters by sailors and used in construction mainly in the buildings of Jeddah in the old days. Houses constructed of cut stone or coral reefs are known internationally as Coral Homes. Some of them still exist to the present time in the historical region of Jeddah. This research focuses on the possibility of benefiting from the cultural heritage in the Jeddah region, which is the use of the cut stone, its reformulation, and preservation through contemporary artwork.
