إن الأشغال الفنية تقوم أساساً على التشكيل بمجموعة الخامات المتاحة أمام الفنان بحيث يستطيع أن ينتج عملاً فنياً معبراً عن الاحتياجات الجمالية والنفعية في آن واحد، فالاستفادة من جميع الطرق التي تتبع في تنفيذ عمل فني بأشكال مبتكرة تزيد من قيمته. ومما لا شك فيه أن الفنون الحضارية القديمة تعكس صوراً من التوليف بالخامات في شكل نماذج فنية تعكس الأبعاد الفكرية والجمالية لكل حضارة، والتراث الشعبي غزير بالنماذج الفنية التي توضح فن التوليف بالخامات، ويعتمد هذا على الخيال المبدع الذي يدرك العلاقات بين تلك الخامات ويرى في صياغتها بعضها مع البعض الآخر نوع من التوليف الجيد الذي يعنى عملية الموائمة عند استخدام أكثر من خامة في تشكيل العمل الفني الواحد في إطار الالتزام بقوانين التجانس والانسجام الكامل بين مجموع تلك الخامات بما يؤدى إلى إحكام الوحدة الفنية للعمل وبالتالي تأكيد القيمة الفنية التي يختص بها. وانطلاقاً من وعى الباحثة بأهمية التوليف في المشغولة الفنية بهدف تغيير المفاهيم التقليدية والأنماط التشكيلية المتعارف عليها، وأن في استغلال بقايا الخامات، وإعادة تدويرها جانب اقتصادي مهم لابد من الاستفادة منه نظراً لارتفاع أسعار الخامات، ولتخفيف النفقات المادية على الطلاب، اتجهت الباحثة لطرح هذه الدراسة لاستغلال توليف بقايا الخامات في مادة مشروع التخرج لطلاب الفرقة الرابعة بكلية التربية النوعية كمدخل لتشكيل مشغولة فنية مستوحاة من التراث الشعبي.
