المستخلص: تهدف الدراسة إلى تقديم تصور علمي عام عن اللهجات واللغات العامية العمانية وأنواعها. وقد قدمت ما تراه ضوابط عامة لدراسة هذه النوعيات اللغوية في عمان تقوم على أسس علمية. وحددت مجالات وموضوعات عامة تصلح للدراسة. وتناولت المصطلحات والمفاهيم اللغوية المتعلقة باللهجات والنوعيات اللغوية، مثل: اللغة، واللهجة، واللغة الأم واللغة الأدبية المشتركة، واللغة العامية، والجماعة الكلامية أو اللغوية. وعرضت تصنيفات للهجات واللغات العامية العمانية مبنية على أسس لغوية وجغرافية واجتماعية. والنوعيات اللغوية ف عمان متعددة ومنتشرة في كل مناطق السلطنة. ورغم تباينها لكنها لا تصل لجعلها لغات مختلفة مستقلة بذاتها حتى القديمة منها؛ لكونها تتشابه في وجوه لغوية عديدة ما يدل على أنها انحدرت من أرومة عربية قديمة، وكلها متأثرة ببعضها، وتأثير الفصحى فيها قوي بين. ويمكن تقسيمها إلى نوعيات بدوية وجبلية وساحلية. ونوعيات مرتبطة بحواضر كصحار ونزوى وصور وصلالة. ونوعيات مرتبطة بمناطق كعامية الظاهرة وعامية الباطنة وعامية الشرقية. وهناك نوعيات مرتبطة بقبائل كالشحية والشجرية والمهرية والكثيرية والبطحرية. وهناك نوعيات تعرف بالهمزة وأخرى تعرف باللام ونوعية تعرف بالواو. وهناك نوعيات سابقة المضارع فيها همزة مفتوحة وأخرى هاء وأخرى حاء. وهناك نوعيات القاف المهموسة ونوعيات القاف المجهورة أو القاف الجيم ونوعيات القاف الكاف.

This study aims to present an overview of the Omani dialects and colloquial languages and their varieties. The study proposes a set of general parameters to be used whenever these language varieties are to be studied. The study also identifies a number of general topics and areas that can be taken up for study. A number of linguistic terms and concepts related to the study of dialects and language varieties have been examined. These include the notion of language, dialect, mother tongue, common literary language, vernacular language and speech community. The study proposes a classification of Omani dialects and colloquial va¬rieties based on their linguistic, geographical and social grounds. The main findings of the study show that the language varieties in Oman are diverse and are found in most areas in the Sultanate. Despite the os¬tensible variations between them, these varieties cannot be considered independent languages, even the ancient ones. This is because they re¬ally share a common set of linguistic features, which clearly shows that they all descend from one common source, an ancient Arabic prototypi¬cal language. Also a common influence can be traced between these lan¬guage varieties. The standard variety is noticed evidently influencing all these varieties. These varieties can be classified into Bedouin, Mountain and Coastal varieties. Some other varieties are urban like those of So- har, Nizwa, Sur and Salalah. Other varieties are associated with specific districts such as the dialects of al-Zahira, al-Batinaand ash-Sharqiya re¬gions. There are also varieties associated with certain tribes in Oman. These include the Shihi, Shihri, Mahri, Khathiri and Bathari. Other va¬rieties are known by the Hamzah sound, others by the L sound, while others are known by the W sound. There are varieties in which the pres¬ent tense verb is marked by a hamzah with fatha, while others mark the present tense verb with an H sound and others with an H sound.
