تتزايد أعداد المسنين في كل المجتمعات المتقدمة والنامية بوجه عام، حيث كانت نسبة المسنين في العالم عام (٢٠٠٠) حوالي (٥٩٠) مليون ويحتمل أن يصل العدد إلى حوالي (٩٧٦) مليون نسمة عام (٢٠٢٠) أي وصل إلى الضعف تقريبا في ٢٠ عام فقط. ومع زيادة اهتمام المجتمعات بصحة ورفاهية إفرادها، أصبحت هذه الفئة تتمتع بحالة صحية جسمية، عقلية، نفسية، انفعالية، جيدة تسمح لهم بمتابعة العمل والعطاء مما يستوجب الاستفادة منهم في ضوء كم الخبرات الزاخر الذي حصلوا عليه في شتى مجالات الحياة بصفة عامة، وخلال سنوات عملهم السابق بصفة خاصة. وقد أشارت منظمة الصحة العالمية إلى أن جميع البلدان سوف تواجه مشكلات جمة إذا لم تضمن جاهزية نظمها الصحية والاجتماعية للاستفادة من هذا التحول الديمغرافي، وإتاحة الفرصة للمسنين المتقاعدين في المساهمة في تنمية وخدمة مجتمعاتهم المحلية بممارسة أنشطة جديدة تتناسب مع مرحلتهم العمرية، مثل المساهمة في تقليص الأمية وتعزيز التعليم، أو مواصلة هواية طالما أهملوها. وقد تحددت أهداف البحث الحالي في تعرف الفروق الإحصائية في اتجاهات المسنين المتقاعدين نحو خدمة وتنمية المجتمع تبعا لمتغيرات الدراسة (النوع -المستوى التعليمي- المهنة قبل التقاعد -الدخل الشهري) والعلاقة ارتباطيه بين اتجاه المسنين المتقاعدين نحو خدمة وتنمية المجتمع تبعا لمتغيرات الدراسة (النوع - المستوى التعليمي - المهنة قبل التقاعد -الدخل الشهري). وأيضا نسبة مشاركة العوامل المؤثرة (المستوى التعليمي - المهنة قبل التقاعد -الدخل الشهري) على اتجاه المسن نحو خدمة وتنمية المجتمع، كما هدف لتعرف الأوزان النسبية للمجالات التي يرغب المسنين المتقاعدين المشاركة من خلالها في خدمة وتنمية المجتمع لأفراد العينة وقد أسفرت النتائج عن: وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين متوسط درجات أفراد العينة من المسنين المتقاعدين في اتجاههم نحو خدمة وتنمية المجتمع تبعا لمتغيرات الدراسة، ووجود علاقة ارتباطيه بين اتجاه المسنين المتقاعدين نحو خدمة وتنمية المجتمع ومتغيرات الدراسة. وأيضا أسفرت النتائج عن اختلاف نسبة مشاركة العوامل المؤثرة (المستوى التعليمي- المهنة قبل التقاعد - الدخل الشهري) علي اتجاه المسن نحو خدمة وتنمية المجتمع، واختلاف الأوزان النسبية للمجالات التي يرغب أفراد العينة من المسنين المتقاعدين المشاركة من خلالها في خدمة وتنمية المجتمع.
The number of elderly people in all developed and developing societies is increasing in general. The proportion of the elderly in the world in 2000 is about 590 million and the number is likely to reach about 976 million in 2020, almost double in 20 years. With regard to the increasing interest of communities in the health and well being of their individuals, this group has enjoyed a healthy physical, mental, psychological and emotional state that allows them to follow up on work and giving, which should be taken advantage of in light of the vast experience they have received in various areas of life in general years, In particular, the World Health Organization (WHO) has indicated that all countries will face great problems if they do not ensure that their health and social systems are ready to benefit from this demographic transition and provide older retirees with the opportunity to contribute to the development and service of their communities by engaging in new activities commensurate with their age Contributing to reducing illiteracy and promoting education, Or continue a hobby as long as they neglected it. The objectives of the current research were to identify the statistical differences in the attitudes of the retired elderly towards the service and development of the society according to the variables of the study (type - educational level - the profession before retirement - monthly income) The level of education - the profession before retirement - the monthly income). Also the percentage of participation factors affecting (educational level - the profession before retirement - monthly income) on the direction of the elderly towards the service and development of society >The results were as follows: There were statistically significant differences between the average of the sample members of the retired elderly in their direction towards serving and developing society according to the variables of the study.
