| 520 | |b The main task of the armed forces is to defend the homeland against any external aggression, since the middle of the 20th century; Egypt has fought four wars that have drained many of Egypt’s resources and capabilities. A state emerging from a period of British occupation that lasted more than 70 years preceded by a period of Turkish rule for four centuries, the cessation of the conflict with Israel marked the start of attention to Egypt’s economic problems. The previous period had a negative impact on the Egyptian economy. Egypt, despite peace with Israel, maintained proper armed forces and maintained its weapons capabilities. National service projects in the armed forces was to achieve self-sufficiency of the Egyptian army in the agricultural and industrial products that needs. | ||
