Imam al-Bazaar is one of the leading imams and one of the truly exceptional Muhaddethin, who has made a great contribution in serving the Sunnah of the prophet. He is famous for his knowledge of the ilal al-hadith (hidden defects of hadith), and he has an insight into narrators. He is the one who chooses narrators as well as the Ahaadith, and he will judge the Ahaadith himself, and the narrators as well. He is gentle in his words, and he is not severe in criticizing or imitators of others, in his ruling on narrators.
He has a number of words and rulings on narrators that may have made me stand there, so as to find out what is meant by them, such as the narrator's saying "Maaroof".
The number of those who say that is twelve narrators, and perhaps some more words may be added to them, as will be discussed below.
Through research and presentation of his words in narrators to the words of the scholars from early critics, it became clear that the word "maroof" is "trustworthy", and perhaps he would call it to others who are less than that, such as the al-Dho'afaa (weak) and the al-Majaheel (Unknown).
He may have added a phrase that explains this meaning sometimes, such as saying that people have spoken about it, or that there is nothing wrong with it, or the scholars have taken it up and talked about it.
