In this thesis, we survey and study the concept of best cos approximation in normed linear spaces which was introduced by Franchetti and Furi (1972) and some related results included characterization, existence, uniqueness, upper semi- continuity and some results on the quotient space. Moreover, in Chapter 3, we define the concept of best simultaneous cos approximation in Banach spaces, and we extend some of the results in the literature in the framework of best simultaneous cos approximation. |
