520 |b The history of both Morocco and Andalusia is deeply related to each other. These two enemies countries are connected to each other by close links that were enhanced by the distance between the two countries which is less than 15 Km from all sides. ALmohad Caliphate had shouldered the burdens of the entire Islamic western during the sixth Hejri century/ 12th Gregorian century and it took over the defense of what remained of the lands of Andalusia. Morocco was having many seaports on the Atlantic ocean that re¬ceive foreign goods and export local products. Sala seaport was the most important one, as it was considered the most important center for trade between Morocco and Europe. It was receiving the different ships, in¬cluding Andalusian ships, especially those sailing from Seville. The city regained its position as a maritime line on the west coast of the Islamic West, in addition to its position on the border of the Almohad Caliphate capital, Morocco. Seville was the last capital of Andalusia before it had fallen at the hand of Spanish army at 646 AH/ 1248 AD and before the decline of the Andalusian land to the region of Granada. At this time the maritime lines witnessed a great change than it was at the era of Almoravids, as the mid¬point transferred from Dania and Meria to Malaga, Seville and Marsa. At this time most of Andalusia east rivers wasn’t proper for sealing, but the Andalusia west rivers was more proper than it for scaling, as the Guadalquivir river linked Seville to the coast and Cordoba. The prosperity of the export in the Sala seaport was due to number of factors including the internal trade in the Morocco markets and the con¬trol of Almohad Caliphate for a large area that all are politically governed by Morocco, in addition to the Almohad Navy that secured the seaports of Morocco and protected the trade road in the Mediterranean sea, thus trade exchange was activated between Morocco and Andalusia and other countries. Sala seaport was characterized by the diversity of the goods experted across it. These goods weren’t limited on the food goods located at the south of city at Tamsna region, but it was also receiving goods coming from Sudan and Morocco cities to be exported again to Andalusia, Eu¬rope and other foreign countries. It was no wonder that the trade exchange between the Andalusian and Moroccan seaports was activated, where the ships were sealing in an organized convoys between the two countries. But Seville city was specialized in trading and production of oil. The city also was having an industry based on oil. This trade activity was prosperous at the era of Almoravids and still in increasing until the begin¬ning of Almohad era. Also, there were other economic activities that based on this industry such as; hotels and shelters establishment in the area of oil production for hosting the trader who came to purchase quantities for export, as well as the tourism activity in the Alsharf region that is located on Seville through forty miles covered by olive trees and figs to the city of LabIa. As a result of this trade exchange between the cities of Sala and Se¬ville, the Seville seaport expanded and the shipbuilding increased in ad¬dition to the increasing the activity of craft related to shipbuilding and trading such as carpenters and seamen. Sala was also having a coast of 2 miles which was crowded by people and ships, in addition to the building of the Navy.
