المستخلص: The second Abbasid era began since the Mutawakil Caliphate held the reign in 232A.H. The people's poetry is a general literary type in its subject that is related to all the members of the people. Therefore, it must deal with the issues of their lives. The study is about the people who which represents most of the individuals who had their share of unjust and oppression by the authorities. The study exemplified that political, social and economic state and the effect of poetry on the public as it simulates their agonies and express the reality to the real people. The Abbasid society was a society of conflicts on power and how to keep it with every caliphate in all ways. Many revolutions were made to end those authorities but they failed. Consequently, this study came to exemplify those events through the poems that were composed at that time to document that time. To understand the poetry about people, we must understand the society with all its structures, norms and traditions. The poetry is the source that records the history of that time but it makes that in its own way. It portraits it in tis artistic way. The study is divided into a preface, five chapters and a conclusion. In the preface, a view of the culture of the first era is stated and focused on the peoples poetry especially the language, terminology and indications. The first chapter concentrated on the political, social and economic events. The second chapter focused on the purposes of the peoples poetry, in it we discussed the purpose of poverty and work, then praise, and satire. As for the third chapter, it discussed the attitudes of this type of poetry; indifference, meaning irony, piety, and the revolutionary attitude. The fourth chapter is about the music of poetry including the internal and the external music. In the conclusion, we stated the main results reached through the study. The study is based on the Arab resources and the poetic collections and many of the literary books.
