تناولت هذه الدراسة موضوع ديمقراطية التعليم وتكافؤ فرصه بين أبناء المجتمعات، وهو من الموضوعات المهمة في عصر أصبح فيه الجميع يبحث عن حقه في التعليم من أجل بلوغ مراكز اجتماعية رفيعة لا يمكن الوصول إليها إلا من خلال تلقي المعرفة والعلم، فأصبحت المجتمعات تنادي بديمقراطية التعليم الذي من خلاله يتحقق مبدأ تكافؤ فرص التعليم للأفراد، تأتي أهمية هذه الدراسة من إيضاحها للعلاقة الدائرية المتبادلة بين التعليم والديمقراطية باعتبار أن نجاح كل منهما وتحقيقه يتوقف على نجاح وتحقيق الآخر ويتأثر به، استخدمت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي. تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى توضيح العلاقة بين ديمقراطية التعليم والديمقراطية العامة، كما تهدف إلى توضيح العلاقة بين مفهوم تكافؤ فرص التعليم وديمقراطية التعليم. خلصت الدراسة إلى أن التعليم لا ينمو ويزدهر وتزداد فرصة إلا في ظل نظام ديمقراطي كما أن الديمقراطية نفسها لا تنجح إلا في مجتمعات متعلمة ومستنيرة. وأن مصطلح ديمقراطية التعليم يتسع ويستوعب معاني مصطلحات تربوية كثيرة تنادي بتحقيق مبدأ تكافؤ فرص التعليم بين أبناء المجتمع منها: العدالة في التعليم، التعليم للجميع، المجتمع المتعلم وغيره. أوصت الدراسة بضرورة توفير الإمكانات والمساعدات للتعليم ليتوسع نوعا وكما، لما له من دور إيجابي في نجاح الديمقراطية التي بدورها تقود إلى تحقيق مبدأ تكافؤ فرص التعليم، وضرورة العمل الجاد على تحقيق مبدأ تكافؤ فرص التعليم لتحقيق فرص الحياة الهانئة ومتطلبات العدالة الاجتماعية لكافة أبناء المجتمعات الإنسانية.
This study dealt with the issue of democracy in education and equal opportunities amongst children in the society. The issue is an important one in an age where all people look for their right to secure a better social status, which can only be obtained through means of receiving better education and knowledge. Therefore, many societies call for democracy in education that guarantees the principle of equal opportunities in education for their members. The study is important because it explained the cyclic relationship between democracy and education since the success of the first depends on the second and is affected by it. The study used the descriptive analytical method. The study aimed to explain the relation between the concept of equality of opportunity and democracy in education. Findings revealed that education does not grow and develop with ample opportunities for all anywhere other than in a democratic system. Moreover, democracy itself does not succeed except in educated and enlightened communities. Besides, the term democratic education espouses a lot of educational terms that call for availing equal opportunities for children within societies, justice in education, education for all and literacy among others. The researcher recommended that there is a necessity for providing the means and assistance required for qualitative and quantitative expansion in education due to its role in aiding democracy. And, democracy will likewise lead to equality of opportunity. In addition to that, there is a need for exerted efforts to attain the goal of equality of opportunity in education that fosters better life and social justice for all children of human communities.
