|b Alice Walker is considered one of the most important figures of African American Literature. In her novel The Color Purple, she tries to reflect the sufferings of the black American female. The purpose of this research is to shed the light on repression according to Fraud represented by Celia, the main female character of The color Purple. The framework of the research is based on Fraud‘s theory of repression. The result of the research reveals that Freudian repression in the character of Celia gives her a true chance to change positively at the end of the novel.
