المستخلص: The primary considerations that formulate the design and make it achieve the power are points, lines, shapes, and surface values, and they all work in furniture designing. We have named the formative elements because they are formable and they are an important source of innovation. They come out with abstract forms that do not mean a specific subject known to the observer that is characterized by pure artistic features. The designer can collect these elements and countless amounts, giving us countless design results. It is the way for the designer to express his sense. Designers have used them in their designs for a long time. However, they all agree in their work on the design items of point, line, rhythm, shape, mass, etc., and finding these expressive foundations distinguishes one work from the other. The problem of research is the weakness and shortcomings of the design aspect of contemporary residential furniture in Yemen due to the confusion between what is Yemeni and what has come from outside, which has led to the elimination of its identity. The importance of research is to highlight the Yemeni identity in designing furniture for residential establishments, preserve the Yemeni heritage from extinction, and achieve intellectual communication between Yemeni heritage furniture and contemporary furniture. Research objective: To develop designs derived from Yemeni heritage that depend on the transfer of contents and forms and make them in a modern framework that keeps pace with the times and its functional and aesthetic performance requirements. Research methodology: The study relies on the inductive approach to research Yemeni heritage furniture, stripping its elements, deriving its contents, and the analytical approach aimed at analyzing models of elements of contemporary heritage furniture.

الاعتبارات الأساسية التي تشكل التصميم وتكسبه القوة هي النقط والخطوط والأشكال والقيم السطحية وهي جميعاً تعمل في تصميم الأثاث وقد سميناها عناصر تشكيلية لأنها قابلة للتشكيل وهي مصدر هام للابتكار فتخرج عنها أشكال مجردة لا تعني موضوعا معينا معروفا للرائي يتميز بالسمات الفنية الخالصة ويستطيع المصمم جمع هذه العناصر ومقادير لا حصر لها فتعطينا نتائج تصميميه لا حصر لها فهي وسيلة المصمم للتعبير عن إحساسه وقد أستغلها المصممون في تصميماتهم من زمن بعيد ولكن جميعا اتفقوا في أعمالهم على مفردات التصميم من نقطة وخط وإيقاع وشكل وكتله... إلخ وإيجاد هذه الأسس التعبيرية ما يميز عمل عن الآخر. مشكلة البحث: ضعف وقصور الجانب التصميمي للأثاث السكني المعاصر باليمن نتيجة للخلط بين ما هو يمني وما هو وافد فغابت هويته. أهمية البحث إبراز الهوية اليمنية في تصميم أثاث المنشآت السكنية، الحفاظ على التراث اليمني من الاندثار وتحقيق تواصل فكري بين الأثاث التراثي اليمني والأثاث المعاصر. هدف البحث: وضع تصاميم مستمدة من التراث اليمني تعتمد على نقل المضامين والأشكال وجعلها في إطار حديث يواكب العصر ومتطلباته من حيث الأداء الوظيفي والجمالي. منهج البحث: تعتمد الدراسة على المنهج الاستقرائي للبحث في الأثاث التراثي اليمني وتجريد عناصرها واستخلاص مضامينها. وكذلك المنهج التحليلـي الذي يهدف لتحليل نماذج من عناصر الأثاث التراثي المعاصر.
