This paper aims to scientifically trace the origins of the movement where the western Africans started to be interested in their history until now, and explore the factors that led to the establishment of the historical heritage of the region. The paper also addressed some manifestations indicating that the western Africans were interested in their history as follows: - The traditional narrators kept and narrated this history. - Instruction and education. - Universities established departments to teach the national and regional history. - Sculpture work. - writing history. - Learning from radio and TV. - Centers for African research, and manuscripts were established. - Museums were established. - Historic and archaeological sites and monuments were maintained. - Memorials for national heroes were built. -Social media are used to disseminate historical awareness and culture. - Folklore and songs were used to disseminate historical awareness and culture. - Documentary movies and animations were produced. This paper also addressed paths taken to assure scientific and popular interest in the history of the region as follows: - Sudanese mythology - Popular proverbs - Generations and races - Political history - History of civilization - History of disasters and natural phenomena - The movement of writing history and its resources The paper also addressed some challenges and obstacles that faced popular and scientific interest in the history of Western Africa to achieve better results in the future as follows: - Finance difficulties - Interest in history was limited to a certain group of the society. - Historical narration and research were not committed to sound methodology of history writing in the region. |
