المستخلص: تعد دراسة علم التاريخ ومفهومه، ونشأته وتطوره وأبرز المدارس التاريخية المسارات التي مر بها هذا العلم، مرحلة مهمة في تاريخ العلوم الإنسانية وهي الانتقال من مرحلة كتابة التاريخ وعرضه إلى مرحلة الوصول إلى فلسفة التاريخ والمدارس التاريخية. وتطرقت في البحث إلى الخطوة الهامة في الانتقال من الكتابة التاريخية المعروفة منذ بداية الكتابة إلى سرد الحوادث سردا قصصيا مع ذكر زمانها ومكانها الثابتين إلى التفسير الفلسفي للتاريخ الذي يفسر الحوادث تفسيرا منطقيا إلى أن أكتشف القانون الذي ينظم هذه الحوادث. ثم ذكرنا محاولات المؤرخون وفلاسفة التاريخ في تفسير مسيرة التاريخ، وتأسيس المدارس التاريخية، فاستعانوا بالماضي لاستشراف المستقبل، وكان التفسير الميتافيزيقي للتاريخ من أقدم التفاسير التي استندت إلى عامل واحد من هذه العوامل. ثم ذكرت الأدوار والمراحل التي مر بها علم التاريخ منذ القرن الرابع عشر إلى تطور هذا العلم وبلغ مرحلة بلورة هذا العلم في القرن التاسع عشر والقرن العشرين.

studying history, its concept, its early beginning and evolution, its most important approaches, the paths it went through as a field of study is a very important phase in the history of humanitarian science. It represents the transition from writing and displaying history to setting a philosophy for history and historical approaches. The study handles the significant step in the transition from the mere historical registration which has been known since the emergence of writing to the narration of events stating their mean time and place, then to the philosophical interpretation of history which logically justifies the events, and to the revelation of the order beyond these events. we, then, trace the historians and history philosophers' attempts to interpret the course of history as well as the foundation of historical approaches. They exploited the past to have an outlook fo the future The metaphysical explanation of history was on of the oldest explanations relying on one of these factors. The study also states the roles and phases that history went through starting from the fourteenth century till the evolution of this field of study reaching the phase of its crystallization in the nineteenth and the twentieth centuries.
