|b The aim of this article is to examine the impact of policies and institutional developments on businesses and their competitiveness. On the one hand, the relationship between productivity, transaction costs and administrative burden for companies is analysed, and on another, the institutional measures implemented are systemised. An empirical study reveals their effects on businesses. On their basis, few recommendations are proposed aiming at improving the institutional environment in Bulgaria.

|d Le but de cet article est d'examiner l'impact des politiques et des développements institutionnels sur les entreprises et leur compétitivité. D'une part, la relation entre la productivité, les coûts de transaction et la charge administrative pour les entreprises est analysée, et d'autre part, les mesures institutionnelles mises en oeuvre sont systématisées. Une étude empirique démontre leurs effets sur les entreprises. Sur cette base sont proposées certaines recommandations pour l’amélioration de l’environnement institutionnel en Bulgarie.
