المستخلص: Through this article we tried to study to what extent can rely on Bank deposit guarantee systems in view of the divergence of views around them between supporters and opponents. With the case study of Algeria. We concluded that: These systems are considered one of the most important methods that allow to adapt to the challenges imposed by the current banking environment, because of their role in maintaining the stability of the banking system. And although more than 80 years have elapsed since the establishment of the first bank deposit guarantee system, and the increasing number of countries that create such systems, However, this system has some negative effects on the stability of the banking and financial system and the economy as a whole. With regard to the Algerian context, the inevitability of this system emerged in the wake of the crisis of EL-KHALIFA bank and the Commercial and Industrial Bank of Algeria, which struck in depth the stability and credibility of the banking system Algeria. Despite the positive role played by this fund since its inception, the legislator has neglected some important characteristics.
