تعد ظاهرة الطلاق من الظواهر والحالات الاجتماعية المهمة التي تؤثر في الوضع الديموغرافي للمجتمع ولتركيب السكان، لأنها تؤدي إلى إيقاف الحياة الزواجية في المجتمع التي هي أساس عملية الخصوبة والإنجاب، إذ تمثل دراسة وتحليل الخصائص الديموغرافية لظاهرة السكان المطلقين إحدى مراحل الدراسة المهمة للتعرف على خصائص الطلاق وما هي نسب وتأثير العوامل الاقتصادية والاجتماعية وتأثيراتها واتجاهاتها، لذلك تكون حالات الطلاق متغيرة ومختلفة من منطقة إلى أخرى ومن مجتمع إلى آخر ومن بيئة إلى أخرى، وقد تم تحليل ودراسة الخصائص الديموغرافية والاجتماعية والاقتصادية الخاصة بمجتمع الدراسة وتحديداً بالمطلقين على مستوى محافظة القادسية معتمدين بنسبة كبيرة على استمارة الاستبانة التي أعدت ووزعت مسبقاً على عينة الدراسة التي تميزت بشموليتها على أغلب الخصائص المؤدية والمؤثرة على حالات الطلاق بصورة مباشرة أو غير مباشرة.
