المستخلص: إن ترجمة النصوص الدينية لطالما شكلت تحديا واضحا أمام المترجم وذلك لأسباب متعددة. ولعل أهمها اعتراض الأذهان الضيقة والمتحجرة على ترجمة الكتب السماوية وحتى أقوال الأنبياء أحيانا. كما أن النص الديني لا يفهم معناه بسهولة لأن معانيه تكون غالبا عميقة مما يصعب ترجمتها. وهذا يعني أن المترجم في هذه المواقف سيواجه صعوبات أكثر مما يتلقاه حينما يتعامل مع نصوص من إنتاج البشر. بالإضافة إلى كل هذا، فعلى المترجم أن يجعل لترجمته للنصوص المقدسة غاية وإلا أصبحت ترجمته عبئا على رفوف الكتب أو توضع جانبا ولا يتصفحها أحد إلا في مناسبات معدودة. وأخيرا، تقف أمام مترجم النص المقدس مشكلة أخرى ألا وهي: إذا أقدم على نقل هذا النص إلى لغة محدودة جغرافيا سيقلل من صدى ترجمته.

Translating sacred text has always been a challenge for many reasons. It was first necessary to confront radical minds who wanted to limit the sacred text in its original language. Then the sacred texts do not allow any conclusive interpretation. The intellectual and scientific effort will then be redoubled compared to situations where the translator is dealing with texts produced by Man. Then, the translator of the sacred text should justify his task’s purpose. In other words, he should guarantee the usefulness of his translation and avoid producing something, which will not be consulted but rarely! Finally, the translator of the sacred text will have to face another difficulty if he has to translate into a language of an ethnic minority: the chances of guaranteeing the success of his translation may be minimized.

La traduction de texte sacré a toujours été un challenge et ce, pour diverses raisons. Il fallait d’abord affronter les esprits radicaux qui tenaient à « emprisonner » le texte sacré dans sa langue d’origine. Ensuite, les textes sacrés ne se livrent pas à l’interprétation définitive. L’effort intellectuel et scientifique se verra donc redoublé par rapport aux situations où le traducteur a affaire à des textes produits par l’Homme. Puis, le traducteur du texte sacré devrait justifier la finalité de son « œuvre », c’est-à dire garantir l’utilité de sa traduction : ne pas en faire un numéro de plus qui serait rajouté à la liste des « ouvrages » qui ne sont consultés qu’au gré de quelques occasions ! Enfin, le traducteur du texte sacré aura à affronter une difficulté de plus s’il a à traduire vers une langue d’une minorité ethnique : les chances de garantir le succès à sa traduction risquent de se minimiser.
