|a تهدف الدراسة إلى التعرف على دور جامعة الملك خالد في تحقيق مجتمع المعرفة، وهل لمتغيرات الجنس والجنسية والتخصص العلمي والرتبة الأكاديمية تأثير في هذا الدور أم لا؟ ولتحقيق هذا الهدف تم استبيان لعينة من أعضاء هيئة التدريس بالجامعة قوامها 231 مفردة. وقد اعتمدت الدراسة على استخدام الأساليب الإحصائية الوصفية والتحليلية لتحليل استجابات المبحوثين. وقد تبين من نتائج الدراسة أن جامعة الملك خالد تقوم بدور قوي في بناء المجتمع المعرفي بصفة عامة؛ حيث تقوم بدور قوي بمحوري توليد ونشر المعرفة، ودور متوسط في محور توظيف المعرفة. كما تبين وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية لتقييم دور الجامعة في محوري نشر وتوظيف المعرفة وكذلك على المستوى العام لصالح الذكور. ولصالح غير السعوديين بالنسبة لمحوري توليد ونشر المعرفة وكذلك على المستوى العام. وأيضاً تبين وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية لتقييم دور الجامعة في بمحوري توليد وتوظيف المعرفة وكذلك على المستوى العام تعزى لمتغير الرتبة العلمية.

|b The study aims to identify the role of King Khalid University in building and developing the knowledge society. It also tried to approach the differences between faculty members assessments of the role of King Khalid University in establishing and developing the knowledge society according to gender, nationality, specialization and academic rank. To achieve these goals, the study used the statistical descriptive and analytical methodology, research descriptive documentary, and also has been relying on the questionnaire as a mean for data collection from social survey sample (231 faculty members was surveyed). The study results showed that King Khalid University plays a strong role in establishing the knowledge society in general. In additions plays a strong role in the dissemination and generation of knowledge, and medium role in the implementation of knowledge. The results also indicate a lack of statistically significant variations among the responses of the respondents about the role of the university in the production of knowledge and application of knowledge due to academic rank. It also indicates that there are statistically significant variations in the dissemination and implementation of knowledge as well as on the surface level due to gender variable in favor of males, statistically significant differences in the aspect of knowledge generation and dissemination as well as on the surface level, due to nationality in favor of non-Saudis, and statistically significant variations in the aspects of generation and implementation of knowledge as well as the general level due to specialization in favor of scientific specialization discipline.
