المستخلص: تناولت في هذا البحث الإمام الطبري كعلم من أعلام التفسير موضحاً ما رزقه الله- عز وجل- به من صفات أهلته لتكوين ملكة التفسير والبراعة فيه والنقد في آن واحد وقد ترك الطبري – رحمه الله – مجموعة ثمينة من المؤلفات التي كانت حصيلة ما من الله به عليه من علم وفهم من أهمها سفره العظيم جامع البيان في تأويل آي القرآن. وقد بينت منهج الإمام الطبري في النقد، فقد كان عادة ما يقوم ابن جرير الطبري بالإتيان على الآية المراد تفسيرها فيقول مصدرا الكلام بقوله: "القول في تأويل قوله تعالى.." ثم يذكر الآية المراد تفسيرها ثم يذكر أحد الأقوال في تأويلها، ويورد بعدها بإسناده القائلين بهذا القول من الصحابة أو التابعين أو أئمة التفسير ويصدر الكلام بقوله: "ذكر من قال ذلك.."، وبعد ذلك يقوم بالترجيح بين الأقوال ويرجح قولاً على قول وهكذا انطبع ما برع فيه الطبري من العلوم والفنون على تفسيره فمن تأمل تفسيره وجد من حسن الترتيب والتأليف ما لم يتوفر لغيره، كثير ممن جاء بعد الطبري اقتبس من فنياته في تفسيره، اعتمد الطبري في تفسيره على مصادر كثيرة جداً ومتنوعة من تفاسير وكتب أحاديث وتاريخ وسير ولغة وهذا ما ظهر لنا من كثرة مروياته. وقد اعتمد الطبري في تفسيره طريقة منهجية مطردة لا يكاد يحيد عنها يمتاز الطبري عن غيره من المفسرين بأنه يفسر الآية بعبارة سهلة، وبأسلوب مختصر يوضح فيه المعنى المراد نائياً بالتفسير عن العبارات التي يشوبها شيء من الغموض. وبيان أنه غالبا ما يكون استطراد الطبري لغاية ما، ومن أهم هذه الغايات نقد الأقوال الضعيفة أو لترجيح قول ما ونصرته، وقد امتاز الطبري – رحمه الله- في تفسيره بالحس النقدي العالي وهذا من أبرز ملامح تفسيره. وقام الطبري في تناوله للأقوال المختلفة ليس بنقد الظاهر من الأقوال التفسيرية فحسب بل إن نقده تعدى ذلك بمراحل ليشمل التفسيرية وعلومها الآراء الاعتقادية ومخرجاتها، والفقهية وذيولها، والأصولية وفروعها إلى آخر ذلك من العلوم لاسيما إذا كان أصحابها أئمة متبعين.

The researcher has handled Imam Al- Tabari as one of the pioneers of interpretation shedding light upon his talent as a genius interpreter and critic at the same time. Al- Tabari has left behind a collection of precious books which contain the fruit of what he innately inherited. The most important book was his great interpretation entitled “ Jamea Al-Bayan Fi Tafsir Aye Al-Qur’an”, translated as “A Collection of Statements on Interpretation of the Verses of the Holy Qur’an”. Al- Tabari’s approach of criticism has been displayed as he used to handle the specified verse by stating it then launching his interpretation by referring to a certain statement which interprets the verse at hand. Afterwards, Al-Tabari narrates a chain of the men who believed in the mentioned statement. That chain includes prophet’s companions, followers and leading interpreters. Al-Tabari used to commence his speech by “Referring to those who said that ...” Next, Al-Tabari examines the statements to find out which the most authentic. Thus, one could easily find traces of the sciences and arts which Al-Tabari excelled in through his interpretation. For example, those who examined his interpretation would find that it is more organized and authorized than any other interpretation. A great deal of Al-Tabari’s followers has technically quoted his methodology. In his interpretation, Al-Tabari has relied on many various books of interpretation, Hadith, history, biographies and language something that tested through his multiple narratives. Al-Tabari has applied a monotonous approach in his interpretation. What makes Al-Tabari a distinguished interpreter is the succinct phrase and simple words he utilized to interpret the Qur’anic verses rather than using ambiguous statements. Mostly, Al-Tabari’s digression is counted on a certain purpose and one of those important purposes is to criticize weak statements or to support and side with one of them. Al-Tabari, May Allah have mercy on him, excelled in mastering the critical sense in his interpretation of the Holy Qur’an. In handling the various statements, Al-Tabari did not only criticize what was apparent but his criticism far exceeded that phase to include the explanatory sciences, their jurist views, their outcomes, jurisprudence and its related schemes, fundamentalism and its branches…etc.
