520 |b The global trend towards the Islamic economy is growing in all its sectors, especially in halal travel. This study sought to identify the most important developments in the African continent in the halal travel sector and the most important opportunities and challenges that accompany this important sector. The study examined the performance of all sectors of the Islamic economy in Africa, and addressed the concept of halal travel and its global market, as well as the most important indicators of the halal travel market in Africa, and tried to explore the future of halal travel in Africa by examining the opportunities and challenges of this sector. The study concluded that the global demand for halal travel is growing at an accelerated rate, and that the African continent has many opportunities to become a magnet for halal travel. At the same time, there are several challenges facing halal travel on the African continent, such as poor transport infrastructure, lack of uniform global standards and certificates for halal travel, lack of statistics related to it, and lack of financial resources to develop and market this sector. In order to overcome these challenges, the study suggested some recommendations that could contribute to the development of halal travel in the African continent. The most important of which is to understand the needs and preferences of Muslim travelers and deliver these needs through Muslim friendly facilities, provide services and infrastructure related to tourism, encourage businessmen and investors in Islamic countries to invest in this promising tourism sector, while taking advantage of digital applications in marketing for halal travel.
