The study tackles publishing four Demotic Ostraca. They deal with oil tax receipts. They are kept in the basement of the Cairo Museum. They were obtained from the excavation performed by the French Institute for Oriental studies in Thebes in the year 1963. Nothing is known about the date of these ostraca. But from the internal evidence and the well-known persons who occurred in those texts, one can conclude that, these ostraca could be dated to the Early Ptolemaic Period, the reign of Ptolemy II Philadelphus. |
