|b This paper seeks to analyze how Arabs and Muslims are represented in Western media. The data for the analysis is gathered from three different newspapers: The New York Times, The Guardian and The Washington Post. The researcher analyzes the headlines and lead paragraphs taken from these newspapers through employing CDA as a framework. Besides, the researcher uses transitivity system as a linguistic tool to unravel the ideologies behind the representation of Arabs and Muslims. The findings revealed a biased representation of Arabs and Muslims as the “negative other” to serve the ideology of the dominant groups.
