تعد التنمية المستدامة حلقة الوصل بين الجيل الحالي والجيل القادم وتضمن استمرارية الحياة الانسانية بكل مقوماتها، وتكفل للجيل القادم العيش الرغيد والتوزيع العادل للموارد المائية والطبيعية والبشرية داخل الدول. وتكمن أهمية التنمية المستدامة كونها وسيلة مهمة لتقليص الفجوة بين الدول المتقدمة والنامية وتلعب دورا رئيساً في تقليص التبعية الاقتصادية خارج إطار الدولة، وحماية البيئة الطبيعية، وتوزيع الانتاج بشكل عادل، وتحسين مستوى معيشة الفرد، والعدالة الاجتماعية، وتوفير رؤوس الأموال، وتهيئة فرص العمل والقضاء على البطالة في الدول النامية، والنهوض بالواقع الخدمي للشعب، وتقليص نسبة الأمية، ورفع مستوى التعليم، ورفع مستوى الدخل القومي بشكل عام. تتطلب التنمية المستدامة تحسين ظروف المعيشة لجميع الافراد من الشعب من غير الافراط في استخدام الموارد الطبيعية إلى ما يفوق الطاقة الانتاجية لقدرة الأرض على الانتاج المحلي. وإن من أهم التحديات التي تواجهها التنمية المستدامة هي القضاء على الفقر، من خلال التشجيع على اتباع خطط وأنماط إنتاج واستهلاك بشكل متوازن، دون الإفراط في الاعتماد على الموارد الطبيعية واستنزافها بشكل مفرط، واعتبار المواطن هو محور العملية التنموية حيث تبدأ التنمية به وتنتهي إليه. يحتاج تحقيق اهداف التنمية المستدامة إلى إحراز تقدم متواصل في عدة أبعاد في كل اجزاء الدولة ومن أهمها هي الأبعاد (الاقتصادية، والبشرية، والبيئية، والتكنولوجية). وهناك ارتباط وثيق فيما بين هذه الأبعاد بكل اشكالها المختلفة، والإجراءات التي يجب مراعاتها والتي من شأنها تعزيز الأهداف المنشودة. وتوصلت الدراسة إلى أن من أهم الركائز والميادين التي تعتمد عليها التنمية المستدامة والتي يجب الاهتمام والعناية بها بشكل خاص بالقدر الذي يستحق النمو هي الصحة والبطالة والعوامل الديموغرافية، وتخطيط المدن، وحق الحصول على الموارد الطبيعية من مصادرها الاصلية والحفاظ عليها وكذلك المجموعات الخاصة مثل الشباب والنساء والأطفال المعاقين وذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة، والعلاقة القائمة بين هذه الميادين ومشكلة البيئة والتلوث والاحتباس الحراري. واختتمت الدراسة بمجموعة من النتائج وتم وضع بعض المقترحات التي يراها الباحثان انها من الضروري اتباعها لتحقيق مبدأ التنمية المستدامة في جميع ارجاء الدولة.

The importance of sustainable development is an important means of reducing the gap between developed and developing countries and plays a major role in reducing economic dependency outside the state, protecting the natural environment, fair distribution of production, improving the individual's standard of living, social Justice and capita! creation. Unemployment in general, and the promotion of the service reality of people, reducing the illiteracy rate, raising the level of education, and raising the level of national income in general. Sustainable development requires improving the living conditions of all people without excessive use of natural resources beyond the capacity of the land to produce locally. One of the most important challenges facing sustainable development is the eradication of poverty through the promotion of balanced production and consumption plans and patterns, without excessive reliance on natural resources and excessive depletion, and considering the citizen as the focus of the development process, where development begins and ends mechanism. Achieving the goals of sustainable development requires continuous progress in several dimensions in all governorates of state, the most important being the dimensions (economic, human, environmental and technological). There is a dose correlation between these dimensions in all its different forms and the actions that must be taken into account and which will enhance the desired goals. The study found that one of the most important pillars and fields on which sustainable development depends, which should be paid particular attention to is the health, unemployment, demographic factors, urban planning, access to and preservation of natural resources from their original sources as well as special groups such as youth Disabled women and children with special needs, the relationship between these fields, the problem of the environment, pollution and global warming. The study concluded with a set of results and some suggestions were put forward by the researchers that it is necessary to follow the principle of sustainable development throughout country.
