|b The aim of this paper is to shed light on the sociological side of Jürgen Habermas’ critical theory. Habermas has developed a theory of society by which he aims to reconstruct the modern society on the basis of communicative rationality. Moreover, he has provided a multidisciplinary project in which the role of social sciences is highly esteemed, especially sociology. From this point, it is noteworthy to mention that, like the first generation critical theorists, Habermas emphasis on the relationship between philosophy and the social sciences. Furthermore, he strongly believes that philosophy cannot succeed in its critical and emancipatory task unless it is tightly linked to society and other sciences. For that, he moves from the philosophical level, where he engages in fervent discussions with some continental and American philosophers like Michel Foucault, Jacques Derrida, and John Rawls, to the sociological analysis searching for the communicative paradigm in social theories of Auguste Comte, Max Weber, and Talcott Parsons.
