المستخلص: الحمد لله على ما ألهم، وعلمنا ما لم نكن نعلم، وصلى الله على نبينا الأكرم، ورسولنا الأعظم، وسلم تسليماً كثيراً. وبعد: فقد أولى العلماء حروف المعاني عناية فائقة، لأهميتها في فهم المعاني واستنباط الأحكام، بالإضافة إلى أن تركيب معظم الكلام عليها، ورجوعه في فوائده إليها، وقد ألمح إلى ذلك المرادي بقوله: "لما كانت مقاصد كلام العرب – على اختلاف صنوفه– مبنياً أكثرها على معاني حروفه، صرفت الهمم إلى تحصيلها، ومعرفة جملتها وتفصيلها، وهي مع قلتها، وتيسر الوقوف على جملتها، قد كثر دورها، وبعد غورها، فعزت على الأذهان معانيها، وأبت الإذعان إلا لمن يعانيها". ولما كانت حروف المعاني أكثر دوراً، وتسير على اللسان سيراً، ألفت المؤلفات فيها، واختلفت مناهجها في أصل مبانيها، وتعدد معانيها؛ فمنهم من أغفل بعضها وأهمل، ومن تسامح في شرحها وتسهل، ومن توسع وتعمق فيها وأكمل، ومن اختصر فيها وأجمل. ومن بين هذه المؤلفات المتقدمة فيها كتاب العلامة عبد الباقي البغدادي، فله منزلة رفيعة وجليلة بين الكتب المؤلفة في بابه، لأمور: الأول: أنه يعد ثاني كتاب مستقل يصل إلينا في هذا الباب بعد كتاب "حروف المعاني" للزجاجي. الثاني: أن مؤلفه قد انتهج في تبويبه وترتيبه وعرض مادته منهاجاً جديداً خالف فيه منهج الكتاب الأول في هذا الشأن، فرتبه على حروف المعجم، وقد سار على دربه من بعده والتزم ترتيبه بعض العلماء المؤلفين في هذا الشأن. الثالث: أن هذا الكتاب هو الأثر الأوحد الذي يكشف عن شخصية نحوية لا تزال مجهولة لدى الباحثين قبل ظهوره للنشر والتحقيق؛ ولهذه الأمور مجتمعة عزمت أن أقدمه ضمن أبحاث ترقيتي. هذا.. وقد قدمت بين يدي الكتاب مقدمة شافية عن العلامة عبد الباقي البغدادي وآثاره، ثم ثنيت بالحديث عن كتابه: "شرح حروف المعاني على حروف المعجم"، ثم أعقبت ذلك بالنص المحقق وفق المنهج الأمثل المعتمد لدى المحققين، متبوعاً بالفهارس العامة. وختاماً.. فأرجو أن يكون هذا الكتاب نافعاً، ولمعاني الحروف جامعاً، وأن يكون قد وفي لفظه معناه، ودنى من متناوله جناه، فيشفي صدر الناظر فيه على المأمول، ويفيد من طالعه الإفادة والقبول، فالحمد لله على التحقيق، إنه ولي التوفيق، والهادي إلى سواء الطريق.
