تشكل الزراعة منعطفاً حضارياً مهماً أسهم في بناء أولى بوادر ظهور الحضارة الإنسانية على وجه الأرض، كما شكلت نوعاً من التحول الكبير من حيث التطور الإنساني في ركب المدنية والتي أدت إلى بناء القرية في العالم القديم كموطن ومسكن أول يحتاج إلى ديمومة في الحياة فظهرت الزراعة نتيجة لتلك التحولات الإنسانية كحاجة ملحة من أجل استمرار الحياة. لقد تشكلت الزراعة ونمت في بلاد وادي الرافدين بعد أن أصبحت مهداً للحضارة للإنسانية في العالم القديم، واختلفت نتيجة لاختلاف البيئة والمكان، فقد كانت الزراعة في جنوب ووسط العراق مختلفة عن الزراعة في مناطق شمال العراق. وهذا ما جعل للحضارة الآشورية التي كانت على وفق التطور الحضاري الذي شهده العراق القديم نقطة كبيرة في التقدم المعرفي واكتساب الصنعة والمهارة والتفكير، وكانت للزراعة والري دورها الواسع النطاق ضمن هذا التحول والتطور الهائل فيها. تضمن البحث الحالي مبحثين متخصصين بالزراعة وتحولاتها في عهد الدولة الآشورية على مر عصورها الثلاث. إذ تضمن المبحث الأول دراسة الزراعة ونشأتها في مناطق شمال بلاد وادي الرافدين القديمة والتعريف بتلك المرجعيات الفكرية والمهنية لها قبيل مجيء الآشوريين. أما المبحث الثاني فقد تضمن دراسة الزراعة ونشأتها في بلاد آشور في مختلف عصورها الحضارية، وقد صنفت في أربعة محاور، شمل المحور الأول دراسة تاريخ زراعة المحاصيل الحقلية (الحبوب). أما المحور الثاني فقد شمل دراسة تاريخ زراعة الحدائق والبساتين، وتضمن المحور الثالث تاريخ تدجين الحيوانات واستخداماتها في الإنتاج الزراعي، بينما تضمن المحور الرابع والأخير دراسة مشاريع الري وما أحدثته من ثورة زراعية هائلة في عهد الدولة الآشورية. ومن ثم كتابة أهم الاستنتاجات التي خرج بها هذا البحث فقائمة للمصادر والمراجع التي اعتمدت عليها الباحثة في دراستها هذه. ومن الله التوفيق.
