تقوم فكرة البحث على تركيز الحديث عن حكمين من أحكام الخلاف المتعلق بمسائل العقيدة، هما: الحكم الأول: أنواعه، وفيه إثبات بأن الخلاف في مسائل العقيدة ليس على مرتبة واحدة، وإنما هو على مرتبتين: الأولى: خلاف اجتهادي سائغ، والثانية: خلاف ممنوع غير سائغ، وتحديد الضوابط لكل نوع منهما، ثم بعد ذلك حديث عن تحقق الخلاف السائغ في العقيدة عند الصحابة، وجمع لقدر كبير من المسائل الخلافية الاجتهادية في مسائل العقيدة، واقتصر التمثيل على توحيد العبادة ومتعلقاتها، وتوحيد الأسماء والصفات، ومسائل اليوم الأخر، وجمع مع ذلك نقد الأقوال المخالفة في قضية انقسام الخلاف في مسائل العقيدة. الحكم الثاني: أحكامه، وفيه تحديد حكم المخالف في كل نوع من أنوع الخلاف في العقدي، فذكرت الضوابط التي يقوم عليها بناء الموقف من المخالف في الخلاف العقدي السائغ، والضوابط التي يقوم عليها بناء الموقف من المخالف في الخلاف غير السائغ، مع إشارة إجمالية إلى اتجاهات المخالفين في هذه القضية.
- The first issue pertains to the different types of theological disputes, for such disputes are not on the same level. Rather, they are on two different levels. The first one is: valid theological disputes, and the second one is: invalid and prohibited theological disputes. I specify the principles underlying each one of these levels. Following this, I examine the valid theological disputes which existed amongst the Sahabah (i. e. companions of the Prophet) and a wide range of other disputed theological issues as well. I have chosen to restrict my discussion to Tawhid al-‘Ibadah (i. e. Monotheistic Unity of Worship) and the subtopics which come under it, Tawhid al-‘Asma’ wal-Sifat (i. e. Monotheistic Unity of Allah’s Names and Attributes), and matters related to eschatology. In addition, I have offered a critique of those who offer opposing views regarding the classification of the different levels of theological disputes. 2- The second issue pertains to the different Islamic legal rulings regarding the one who adopts an opposing theological view. My examination covers the rulings in the scenario of both of the aforementioned levels of disputes. In the area of valid theological disputes, I mentioned the underlying principles which form the basis upon which a stance is taken from one who adopts an opposing opinion. I also do the same in the area of invalid theological disputes. I also make a cursory mention of those who share an opposing view to mine on this subject.
